Hagerstown, MD –The final NJCAA Women’s Division 2 poll has been released and you will find your Lady Panthers of Baltimore City Community College (20-0; 10-0 MD JUCO Conference) nationally ranked at number 16.  The Lady Panthers received the necessary votes when they defeated then number 18 in the country Allegany College in the championship game of the MD JUCO Conference Tournament.

BCCC defeated Allegany last week 56-48 behind the outstanding play of freshmen guards Tanira McClurkin (St. Frances/Baltimore, MD) and MVP Ciarra Lucas (Old Mill/Baltimore, MD).

One of the team’s successes is having a sound defense.  BCCC is number one in the country in overall team defense holding their opponents to 42.5 points/game.   Leading the way with that defensive pressure, freshman forward Denisha Haywood (Forest Park/Baltimore, MD) stands at number one in blocked shots with 7.5 blocks/game.

Congratulations to head coach Renard Smith, assistant coach Shadae Swan and the Lady Panthers!!!!!
