John Rhames
Induction Class of 2007

John Rhames is a faculty member in the Baltimore City Community College Allied Human Services Department.  However, Rhames is famous for what he loves best and that is basketball.

Throughout the 1990s, John Rhames was known on campus as one of the brightest women’s basketball coaches around the league.  He made himself known and his program within the ranks of the National Junior College division and some say he was the best for bringing out the best student athletes and molding them into winners.

Coach Rhames is well known on and off the basketball court with the winning smile and big attitude.  Not an attitude of arrogance but the winning attitude that players feed off of.  Rhames made it known to his players that you come in to learn to become skilled players and to be able to win as a team.  There was no I in team when it came down to the women’s basketball program.

What makes coach John Rhames great is that he combines education with athletes.  Rhames believes that you get the very best out of your students with a positive attitude and a well-balanced skill level of basketball, which spelled out as a winning program throughout his tenure as head coach.
